Kawasaki 1400 GTR. Kawasaki non vi lascia mai soli e vi offre, a partire dal prossimo luglio, la 1400 GTR: una Sport Tourer con la strada nel sangue e la pista nel DNA. L’ammiraglia Kawasaki è in grado di soddisfare queste piccole esigenze, grazie alla buona manovrabilità, l’elevato confort ed una posizione di guida ottimale, il tutto abbinato ad un propulsore e ciclistica pressoché invariati rispetto alla sorella ZZR1400. Il quattro cilindri di Akashi sviluppa oltre 155 cavalli, capaci di proiettare la sagoma protettiva e maestosa dell’astronave giapponese alla pari di una vera superbike, mentre il comfort è garantito dalla sella comoda e spaziosa, dalle valige laterali e dal generoso cupolino anteriore. Grazie al sistema di fasatura variabile delle valvole – Variable Valve Timing -, la Casa di Akashi garantisce un rendimento di coppia ai regimi medio-bassi davvero interessante, che consente quindi facile e pronta accelerazione. A dar manforte accorre anche il sistema di comando dell’albero di trasmissione Tetra-Lever in grado di ridurre il gioco. Kawasaki 1400 GTR non è solo prestazioni e sportività, ma anche, e soprattutto, Gran Tourer. Ecco quindi che la “Supersportiva Transcontinentale” viene dotata di un capolino regolabile elettricamente, bauletti laterali di serie, sensori di pressione dei pneumatici, KI-PASS (il primo sistema di accensione con chiave Smart Key nella sua classe) ed un’uscita di alimentazione CA ubicata sotto il posto di guida.

The new GTR adds touring features that make it the most impressive long-distance, high-speed machine on the market today. Thanks to first VVT (Variable Valve Timing) system in its class the GTR’s engine performance is really remarkable. Ultra-low-rpm and mid-range torque output is simply amazing, as is the effortless acceleration from any speed. Kawasaki’s 1400 GTR’s 4 cylinders engine develops 190 horsepower. Moreover, GTR’s chassis is based on that of the ZZR1400. While modifications were made for touring comfort and equipment, and the riding position has been adjusted, sport riding quality from Kawasaki’s aluminium monocoque frame remains uncompromised. The GTR offers a bank angle on par with the ZZR1400, with excellent steering feedback from the rigid chassis, inverted fork and other high-spec running gear. Combined with an ABS brake package delivering supersport-level braking performance, the world’s only “monocoque tourer” delivers handling unrivalled in this class. In addition to the sporting performance, the new GTR has the functionality of a Grand Tourismo machine. Features include an electrically adjustable windscreen, standard panniers, tyre pressure sensors, KI-PASS, the first smart key ignition system in its class, and an AC power outlet located under the cockpit. Which price? It is not the time yet to talk about its price, as Kawasaki 1400 GTR’s launch is said to be fixed in 2008. Anyway, we dare to say the price should be a bit under 15.000 euro… For those riders who cross countries and continents the way others cross the city, the Kawasaki 1400 GTR offers more excitement than anything else in its category.
